Chalice Brewing’s Bar Rennovation

We Worked Hard to Preserve the Building’s History.

When we were scouting locations for Chalice Brewing in Coeur d’Alene, we were taken to very modern-brewery-locations: bright, cold warehouses with concrete floors and roll-up doors. It would have been a simpler solution, but it wouldn’t have been Chalice.

We looked long and hard for a building that would encompass our core values of community outreach and historical preservation. What better place than Sherman Ave. in beautiful downtown Coeur d’Alene. The 102-year-old building had housed multiple art galleries and was, most recently, a salon.

It took immense effort and perseverance to convert the building into an amazing taphouse and brewery, while still preserving its history.

But under the salon chairs was a solid foundation. Behind the paint and wallpaper were original, beautiful bricks from hardworking CDA craftsmen. Through the exterior, there was a building waiting to return to glory, and we felt at home.

We documented our renovation of the building, and it’s now a part of our Chalice Brewing story. We are extremely happy with the result, and couldn’t be more proud to share this building with the people who deserve to see it and enjoy it.

“The original bricks are the cornerstone of the brewery. They weren’t easy to uncover, but we’re glad it was possible.”
